Update 2017-07-23 Industry says 5G may not make economic sense. We can only hope. posted July 25/17

1)    AARP in the US is voicing its concerns about the bill in Calif. which would allow microcells to be installed on public rights of way without notification or consultation.  Please, if you are a CARP member, or a member of any other major organization, encourage them to support the request for a moratorium on microcell installations by the provincial govt, a resolution which will be presented at the Union of BC Municipalities conference in Sept.

2)    Here are some important facts in response to the industry criticism of the NTP report.  Some of these might prove useful in letters to various politicians, media, etc.

3)    Industry talk is that 5G will be extremely expensive to use, requiring microcells very 100 meters or so. No consideration for the health effects  due to use of frequencies that have never been studied, to which nature has never been exposed.  Just costs. Hopefully if nothing else stops this travesty, costs will.  Notice the estimate of 600,000 microcells in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas alone.

“We modelled how many 5G sites would be required to cover the NY-NJ-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), an area of ~8,300sq/mi with >20m population (6% of US total). Using FCC tower data, terrain, street and vertical elevation models, our analysis suggests over 600,000 5G cells (each at 100m radius) would be required for contiguous 5G coverage – more than a 500-fold increase from today’s 3G/4G cell footprint. Clearly this would not make economic sense for operators, adding conviction to our view that 5G at mmW frequencies could only be deployed as a WiFi-like “hotzone” service in densely-populated, wealthy areas.”

4)    A very interesting presentation by Dr. Rau that, after the first couple of minutes, is about the various ways of alleviating or reducing the biological effects of RF exposure. This is a clinic that deals with many patients suffering from environment-related health problems, the largest component is from the US.

Thomas Rau, MD of Paracelsus Clinic, Switzerland on Biological & Health Risks from Wireless Technologies   Summary given by www.manhattanneigbhors.org

Dr. Thomas Rau of the Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmuhle, Switzerland, cautioning about the biological influences of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from wireless technologies.

Paracelsus Clinic sees patients from all over the world who are not getting well with conventional medical strategies. They practice what is called ‘Biological Medicine’ which focuses on the terrain of the body or ‘milieu’, looking for what is interfering with proper functioning of the regulation systems, and supporting the body as indicated to remove the impediments.

In focusing on the body’s systems and regulation, it is distinctly different from western medicine that focuses on a problem, like a tumor. Biological Medicine takes a bigger lens, systemic view of health and disease, and uses unique diagnostic and therapeutic modalities resulting very often in superior outcomes.

In the case of electromagnetic fields from wireless technologies (and infrastructure), Dr. Rau explains EMFs interfere with cellular metabolism, mitochondria and oxygen uptake, among other physiological processes. Importantly, he notes. On the one hand, there are the influences of the radiation emitted from the antennas, such as antennas in cell phones, portable phones, smart meters, wireless routers and neighborhood rooftop antennas and towers. But Dr. Rau makes the important distinction here that the radiation is one source of the problem, and one’s own body, as an antenna receiving the frequencies as the other. And that is where one can work—for example, removing heavy metals one may have accumulated, or addressing other sources of metal in the body, such as dental amalgams, to reduce one’s reactivity to the external antennas, or building up stability in the cells.

Paracelsus has the largest Biological Dentistry operation in Europe and they are metal-free. When it comes to patients with chronic illnesses, especially tinnitus patients and cancer patients, removing dental metals is a first priority. After all, our environment has certainly changed, blanketed with more and more radiation, so the practice of dentistry has had to change, too, and Paracelsus is leading the way.

Dr. Rau discusses this and more in this video, including how EMFs are one of the most important epigenetic influences changing the bacteria in our bodies, and increasing pathogenicity (the potential for pathological changes and disease).

More than ever, the Biological Medicine broad and systems-oriented approach to health restoration is extremely valuable and needed in today’s wireless age.

Subject: I am opposed to 5G

To Whom It May Concern:

  • Canada Gazette, Part I, June, 2017, “Consultation on Releasing Millimetre Wave Spectrum to Support 5G”, notice reference number (SLPB- 001-17).

I am strongly opposed to 5G, and demand a full moratorium on its rollout, on the issuances of new license under the New Licensing Framework for the 24, 28 and 38 GHz Bands, until thorough long-term research can be done on its health, safety issues. Potentially, it presents a nightmare scenario for all living beings. Furthermore, if it is accepted, it opens the doors for even worse further developments.

We have seen nightmarish scenarios with asbestos, and tobacco.  The implications are much more serious with 5G, as no living being will be able to avoid it.

Wisdom is needed here, not a short-sighted “corporate” agenda.  Please consider the health of our planet and of future generations.

Subject: Re: Smart Meters

Dear MLA Michelle Mungall:

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you in your new role.  I have great hopes for the NDP/Green government.  One of my hopes is that the situation with “Smart meters” will become more transparent to the public, and the public’s best interests will be restored in this area.

I was very happy with analog meters, and meter readers.  They were not detrimental to the health and wellbeing of biological organisms (including bees) as are Smart meters.  They did not cause fires, as we are seeing with Smart meters.  They had longer shelf lives than Smart meters.

Initially, BC Hydro would not allow people to keep these meters, and forced people to have the Smart Meters, and often used devious methods to exchange the meters.  For example, in order to keep their analogs, some people had to resort to putting locked cages, etc. around their analogs.  Now, BC Hydro does extra billing for these meters.  I know no one who has been able to exchange their Smart meter back for an analog.

There are many other serious concerns about Smart meters.  On examination, I believe you will agree that these concerns outweigh any advantages.

In some areas, such as Lakeland, Florida, Smart meters have been removed because of the problems (and others) mentioned above.  It behoves us to do the same.

Our democratic rights have been violated by BC Hydro.  BC Hydro has repeatedly mislead the public.  With our new government, we have the opportunity to restore our rights, and to correct wrongs that were supported by the previous government.

Thank you for your actions in this extremely important area.

Following is what I sent to these people, …

To whom it may concern:

In these submissions to you regarding 5G and the use of wireless in general, you will be receiving evidence of varying levels of reliability.  It seems pointless for me to repeat them.  The point I wish to make concurs our general attempts at approaching such issues in a scientific manner.  Here are some points to consider:

1. When you are investigating a crime you keep in mind all factors that are associated.  Likewise if a health problem has increased over a period, all innovation in association with the health problem must remain on the list of suspects.

2. Are we keeping proper records and performing effective follow up when health problems emerge?  We have cancerous tumors, autism, etc. right in our small community.  I would like to investigate factors in the lives of these people that could be associated with their ailments.  I remain silent for obvious reasons, but I also know that there is no system in place to do this work, in spite of the fact that the knowledge attained would prevent illness in the future and save lives.

3. Some countries are better at protecting their citizens from possible health hazards than others.  Please take a look at where Canada stands on this.

4. We naively group all wireless radiation together in the assumption that their biological effect is the same.  We should know that the effect of wave motion on a physical body is determined by the law of wave resonance.  A soprano voice can break a wine glass over a distance if the resonance is precise.  The military has done some research on this subject, but the consumer world knowledge attained by the military is ignored.

Humans have always been risk takers, and let them take risks if they so choose.  But when one person’s adventures in risks transfers into drawing in others that are opposed to taking those risks, we have human rights violations.

Please consider these points

Update 2017-07-22 ISED (formerly Industry Canada) wants our comments re 5G by Aug. 4/17 posted July 24/17

1)     The federal dept. responsible for granting the expansion of transmitters and towers, Innovation, Science and Economic Development (formerly Industry Canada), is asking for public comments regarding 5G technology by Aug. 4.  It is important that all of us express our concerns and ask for a moratorium on this proliferation.  Below in letters Frank Clegg, head of Citizens 4 Safe Technology, provides information that will be of assistance.  Please take a few minutes to help stop approval of 5G and microcells.

2)    Now that we have a new govt and new ministers, it’s time to bring the issue of smeters, their dangers, their costs, their lack of benefits, and the extremely high legacy (extortion) fees to the attention of these people. It is likely that the Energy Minister knows nothing about this issue, so we should educate her. She should be told about the battle for our rights, the way Hydro has treated us, and the fact that we have paid the highest fees in North America, without justification, and without end. Even if we accept the smeter with the transmitter off, the monthly fees are higher than fees for complete opt out in most of No. America. Why? Please consider writing the new energy minister( michelle.mungall.mla@leg.bc.ca ) and the new Chair of Board of Hydro (Kenneth.Peterson@bchydro.com ). CEO is yet to be named to replace Jessica McDonald.

3)    In this Dr. Mercola youtube he speak about RF and EMF at the 1:11 hour mark.  He measures the levels of RF during a cell phone call.

4)    It sounds as if Premier Horgan plans to keep his election promises. The strong environmental supporter and Site C critic,  Minister of Environment & Climate Change Strategy <george.heyman.MLA@leg.bc.ca>  might be someone who will listen to our concerns about smeters and microcells/5G.

Good morning,

As you may know 5G is the next wave of high-capacity wireless technology. It is capable of exponentially more data transfer than 4G/LTE and is planned to support growing on-demand immersive entertainment, the Internet of Things (IoT), self-driving cars and data streaming to your cell phone and all wireless devices. Estimates are that the global market for 5G equipment and applications to be worth $36 billion by 2020.

Industry Canada is now accepting input on 5G roll out, until August 4th. As 5G technology is effective only over short distance and is poorly transmitted through solid structures, intensive infrastructure will be required. As a result many antennae are necessary, preferably line-of-sight. Full-scale implementation will most likely result in “small” yet powerful antennae every 2 to 10 houses in residential areas on light post, street lamps, as well as new numerous structures.

As a result of this dense infrastructure, we will all experience substantial wireless exposure increases. Health consequences may be substantial. We are recommending a full moratorium on the roll out of 5G technology in Canada until the science and implementation options have been fully examined, and there is a thorough transparent understanding of the health consequences of this new and untested technology, released through an update to Safety Code 6.

We have gathered the facts and concerns around 5G HERE. Please invest some time to understand the next wave of wireless technology and it’s potential health impacts, then please send in your submission!

Responses are due to Innovation, Science and Economic Development by August 4th, 2017. The instructions and links to submit your comments are on the 5G page on our site.

Thank you for all you do!

Frank Clegg

Update 2017-07-20 BC Ferry Corp public meeting Aug. 18 posted July 22/17

1)    There may be an opportunity for people who wish to voice concerns about wifi on BC Ferries to be heard. The BC Ferry Corp. is holding a public meeting on Aug. 18, 10 am, in Vancouver. The address is C300 Theatre, UBC Robson Square, 800 Robson St.  It would be great if a large group showed up, with some signs and flyers.

2)    Re. the RT documentary on EHS, from a member.

It’s July 19 and just as promised RT is broadcasting the documentary Wi-Fi Refugees. It will be aired every few hours on the half-hour today and into tomorrow (July 20) and possibly beyond.

Here’s the Announcement:

Wi-Fi Refugges — nowhere to run:  Electrosensitive people try to escape wireless technology.

“”They are forced out of society into involuntary seclusion, away from civilization. Their tormentor is invisible — and it’s gaining power and expanding its reach day by day. However, most people consider it to be harmless, and look upon those claiming otherwise with distrust. The victims are called electrosensitive people, and they are running out of places where they can hide from the waves produced by wireless and cell phone technology.”  RT

I was able to watch it (about 50 minutes in length) and it is an excellent wake-up call for the inhabitants of the earth. It portends a gruesome future.  Actually, I found it frightening, realizing that the victims in the documentary were just the first in line, the canaries in the mine.  With exposures of EMF/RF rising as they are, EVERYWHERE,  the effects being cumulative, a world-wide epidemic is sure to erupt over the coming years, crippling populations from working or leading productive lives.

You can go to RT.com this evening and all of tomorrow to watch this documentary.

Or, I found another way.  Got to:  http://rtd.rt.com

You will find all the current documentaries listed with live stream  viewing offered.  So watch at your convenience over the next few days.

3)    The doctor in Colorado who noticed behavioral changes in his children after getting smartphones is raising awareness about this issue. Hopefully he learn about the biological issues associated with these things.

“Tim Farnum, DO, an anesthesiologist and a father of five, recently started Parents Against Underage Smartphones (PAUS) in Colorado, with the goal of creating an initiative to restrict the age at which children can own smartphones. He has found that exposure to technology too early in a child’s life could harm brain development, hinder social skills and create an unhealthy dependence on dopamine in a way similar to alcohol and drug addiction in adults”

4)    Here is the list of responsibilities by Ministry.  I will have it posted on our website in case you don’t keep this for reference. This will help to know who should receive emails or be copied on relevant emails. We need to begin to introduce ourselves to these new ministers and let them know we intend to ask for help, even to pressure for help, to protect us and our families.

5) In BC those with disabilities, such as having cancer or MS, having medical devices such as pacemakers or deep brain implants,  are not allowed to keep their analogs even if their doctors advise that exposure to RF from smeters could harm them.  In the US, according to this article, many states must accommodate such conditions and people are pushing to have this accommodation apply to the utility companies and smeters. It seems that our Charter Rights protect individuals against actions by a govt. agency that would do harm. Unfortunately it seems only a legal challenge will force BC Hydro and FortisBC to recognize and honour our Rights.

“Each state and local gov’t, including a municipal utility (run by local gov’t) is required to follow the Americans with Disabilities Act under Title II . Privately-owned utilities may be covered under Title III (see below). The ADA (more at www.ada.gov) is enforced by the US Dept. of Justice (US DOJ). Privately-owned utilities that accepted federal funding for smart meter and smart grid projects also must follow certain additional federal discrimination laws, such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended), as it applies to equal access to program benefits and services (equal access to essential utilities such as electricity and gas or water)**, with enforcement by the US Dept. of Energy.”

Subject: Helpful website in projecting brain cancer risks

Dear Medical Health Officers:

I’m including a link below to a new website with easy-to-understand information on the dangers of electromagnetic radiation, such as from ‘wireless’ devices.

For those of you who have been letting Perry Kendall do the thinking for you, the information on the site may seem heretical… however a review of where your information is coming from and who is interpreting it on your behalf may be helpful to the health of British Columbia residents.

Your job is to protect the health of residents, not the financial health of wireless companies. We went through the same tired old story with asbestos and tobacco, is it necessary to do it again with ‘wireless’?

The residents of British Columbia have a right to be treated with respect and honesty by public officials, not with malfeasance, medical industry arrogance, and disdain

Thank you.

PS: US Senator John McCain has brain cancer. I wonder where all those cancerous tumors are coming from? Got a 5G antenna on your block yet? You will have soon. Good luck.

“We can´t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”     A. Einstein

Update 2017-07-21 Excellent youtube re. 5G, smeters. posted July 22/17

1)    Sen McCain’s recent diagnosis of brain cancer (glioblastoma) reminds us that there are so many studies showing harm. This one, done a few years back, shows how it’s not only the side of the head where the cell phone is held that is affected, but rather the entire brain reacts negatively. This counters some industry hacks who are showing McCain using the phone on the side of the head opposite the tumor.

“In September 2013, Chinese researchers published “The Alteration of Spontaneous Low-Frequency Oscillations Caused by Acute EMF Exposure,” in Clinical Neurophysiology. The results demonstrated the RF-EMF exposure altered brain activity not only in the closer brain region but also in regions of the brain further from the antennae . The RF exposure was a 30-minute LTE signal (a higher frequency than Volkov’s) in this double-blind, crossover, randomized and counter-balanced study design. Read more in this press release on the research study: LTE Cell Phone Radiation Affects Brain Activity in Cell Phone Users.”

2)    www.EMFscientist.org  is a site with the Appeal signed by more than 220 scientists from around the world, asking for the precautionary principle to be invoked and for the guideline setting agencies, such as the WHO, to take its job seriously and provide warnings to the general public.  At that site are some quotations from some of the scientists that could be useful in letters, etc .

3)    An excellent youtube by Kevin Mottus who has been working to educate the public and politicians about the dangers of allowing ever increasing exposure to RF from wireless devices. He speaks of the basic harm, ways to reduce exposures at home, and warns about the dangers of 5G technology and microcells outside all of our homes. I hope you will listen and share widely. We must become active about demanding a moratorium for these transmitters which are introducing new frequencies that have never been studied.

5G Wireless Radiation Dangers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fi_0VTS-D8 1:06 hour.

Kevin encourages us all to push our politicians to act on our behalf, to consider the health issues and demand that new safety standards be established based on biological effects, not some thermal standard established by and for the industry and military. We should be writing to and educating our new premier and energy minister.   Email contacts are on our website www.stopsmartmetersbc.com under “contacts”.

At around the 30 min. point Kevin says that about half of all US states allow people to opt out of smeters after having received many complaints about health.  In many states, people are allowed to keep their analogs (see chart at http://www.stopsmartmetersbc.com/wp-content/uploads/OPT-OUT-FEES.pdf )  Yet Hydro keeps telling people that the grid won’t work if people have analogs and that analogs are no longer available.  It’s time we pushed our new Energy Minister for our right to protect our homes and families to be enforced.

Update 2017-07-19 New more powerful smeter being installed in areas where current smeters cannot communicate with the grid. posted July 21/17

1)    Public service announcement in the US about things used and played with by children are connected to the IoT and could invade their privacy.

Consumer Notice: Internet-Connected Toys Could Present Privacy and Contact Concerns for Children

2)    A German study, done in 2013, identifies some means by which sensitivity can be diagnosed. Once the medical community has means by which symptoms can be measured, identified and EHS diagnosed, the sooner the relationship between RF/EMF and biological effects will be acknowledged.

“The attached (see the link below)  study, done in Germany in 2013, showed that 3 parameters, which cannot be voluntarily controlled, changed after exposure to EMF’s in those with EHS and explains why provocation studies involving individuals with self-reported EHS could not find an association between EMF exposure and symptoms.

EHS can therefore be objectively measured with these 3 parameters.

The 3 parameters:

 1) HRV (heart rate variability),

 2) electric skin potential, and

 3) microcirculation (this means blood flow thru capillaries) The important thing about microcirculation is that it regulates intestinal motility (see p. 284) and that the frequency (0.15Hz) correlates with intestinal motility and gallbladder motility.  So changes in microcirculation can affect digestion and gall bladder.  (It is interesting to note that there is technology that uses EMF’s to improve microcirculation.  https://deutschland.bemergroup.com/en/science The fact that such technology can be used to improve microcirculation under specific conditions also means that it can make microcirculation worse under other conditions.  Such medical technology is also proof of biological effects of EMFs)

Changes in the HRV can explain panic attacks and heart problems.

Changes in the electric skin potential can explain skin rash/inflammation seen in EHS individuals.

Changes in microcirculation can cause headaches and affect digestion and gall bladder.”

3)    Another well-known person has been diagnosed with glioblastoma – US Senator John McCain.  This is the same type of brain tumour that has killed many people, including Beau bBiden,  Sen. Ed Kennedy, OJ Lawyer Johnnie Cochrane. All of these people used cell phones a lot. When will the medical community acknowledge the connection that scientists have found and the warnings that have been given?

4)    Katie Singer has gathered a lot of good info about microcells/5G in her most recent newsletter.  I hope you will share these articles with your city councillors and the new NDP Minister of Municipal Affairs, Selina.Robinson.mla@leg.bc.ca who needs to know about how the municipal right of way is being given to and taken over by the telecoms for microcells sending radiation through our homes without our permission, or even knowledge.

5)    News from a Salt Spring Island resident about a new smeter that Hydro is installing. If you are in an area where the smeters are being read manually (and there are many), you should be on the lookout for these, too. As soon as I have more info about them I will share. Also, if you have a smeter with the transmitter turned off, be aware that Hydro could “by mistake” change your smeter, too.  I may be too skeptical, but I can’t help but wonder if mistakes like this occur to be able to get a fully functional smeter in place.  It is surprising that no letter is being sent out in advance. People should be advised that a change is going to occur so that power can be shut off and precautions taken to ensure a power surge isn’t going to damage your home or equipment. I would suggest that everyone who might be facing an R-meter email Hydro, BCUC, etc. and demand that you receive a letter with full and complete information about this meter and the proposed switch.

“This neighbourhood (Beaver Pt. area) is apparently slated for an upgrade of their smart meters to what’s called an “R-meter”. The R-meters are more powerful at communicating with the grid, because the current s-meters in this area aren’t communicating properly – maybe because of the landscape and lack of wifi/cell coverage? Not sure what this means re: the current s-meters here – maybe they have been read manually all this time? (I’ll try to poll some of the neighbours).

As I mentioned, a BCH tech had come to upgrade my current radio-off meter and we put a stop to that on the spot. He apologized and realized it was an opt-out meter and did not proceed with the upgrade. When I phoned BCH S-meter dept, they said it was a mistake that my meter had been put on the work order list to be upgraded. It was a work order that had been put in place prior to us buying the house as the previous owner had regular radio-on s-meter. BCH S-meter department assured me my meter would not be upgraded and would remain “radio-off”. Sure hope this is true, but in the meantime, it looks like the rest of the grid around this neighbourhood will get stronger as the radio-on meters are upgraded.”

Subject: not just a Health Canada issue

Hello Councillor Plant,

thank you for your reply to my recent e-mail, despite being on vacation in NZ. If this wasn’t urgent, I wouldn’t be bothering you at this time. Please feel free to file this until your return. I will await your response then.

Please be informed that micro cells on public right of ways, especially in neighbourhoods, is not a Health Canada issue; it is very much a civic / municipal issue.

First, please read the following (in blue), very carefully and second, please

find attachment below outlining / overviewing the key issues in the crucial matter of micro cells — soon to be impacting us all:

In the US, preparations for micro cells which will hold 5G transmitters are being made. One major carrier, AT&T, admitted that they intend to install transmitters anywhere and everywhere. In US state legislatures, bills must be passed to allow this transgression of public rights. In BC, there is no need for permission to be granted, or for these actions to be acknowledged.

According to AT&T: “Our 5G Evolution plans will pave the way to the next generation of higher speeds for customers. We’re not waiting until the final standards are set …. We’re executing now,” said John Donovan, chief strategy officer and group president, Technology and Operations. (emphasis added)

Proposed legislation in California would permit telecom companies to erect 50,000 new microwave antennas in residential and commercial areas without municipal approval. The 5G microwave antennas would be placed on top of existing utility poles, or on public infrastructure such as schools, libraries, bus shelters, and in public parks. The placement of this equipment will be at the discretion of the telecom companies.

Really? Really? So, who is running the show here? If this is allowed to continue, there will no longer be a need for mayors, councillors, provincial, or even federal governments. All will be obsolete. As things stand now, international corporations can and do sue governments — particularly if a county’s environmental laws and protective measures are perceived as too protectionist and therefore counter to said corporation’s interests / profits.

In their strategies to roll out untested technologies, telecom industries are trampling on our collective rights and subjecting us to unproven experiments with electromagnetic frequencies and non-ionizing radiation.

While I understand that you are probably trying to focus on what may seem to be more pressing / immediate matters at hand, all the more reason to be informed about matters being pushed through via the backdoor. Otherwise, all your efforts at being a responsible, responsive councillor, may add up to nought given that telecom industries are setting the rules, which no doubt other industries will be quick to cash in on.

Furthermore, are you aware that telephone companies such as Telus (but mostly those in the States so far) are embarking on procedures to dismantle landlines? (Whatever happens in California, does not stay in California.) For those of us refusing to participate in the cellphone / wifi industry, what choices will we have once landlines are gone — but we will continue being exposed to harmful radiation produced by wifi systems nevertheless?

While Health Canada ought to get its neck out of the sand on this matter and admit that ‘Safety Code 6’ is completely out of date, it needs to look to what other countries are doing in this regard — imagine, even India is ahead of Canada when it comes to regulating the cell industry. Health Canada also needs to untether itself from the influence of industry which is supported by industry scientists, and realign itself with its citizens — for the protection of its citizens. One could definitely accuse Health Canada of conflict of interest.

Law makers like to tell citizens that ignorance of the law is no excuse; that it is up to citizens to inform themselves, so, as a lowly citizen, I am telling you, nay, asking you, nay, begging you, Councillor Plant et al at Saanich, please inform yourselves on these matters before its too late for all of us.

Update 2017-07-18 Cell tower application rejected by Sooke Mayor and Council posted July 20/17

1)    I realize people are angry and frustrated with the various authorities who are allowing our families and environment to be threatened when the science shows that RF/EMF is dangerous.  But recently I’ve been copied or BCC’d  on emails which use extremely rude language that will not help our cause. I would encourage people to realize that the receivers of the emails are doing their jobs, in many cases without being allowed to interpret policies or to express their personal concerns. We can express our outrage without being rude, in ways that, hopefully, will encourage people to finish reading them and, perhaps, begin a dialogue.  May I suggest that everyone (including me) put a personal face on it, and help the bureaucrats to realize we are upset, many are sick, and we are asking for their help.

2)    Shaw/Freedom Mobile have proposed erecting several new cell towers in and around Sooke, many very near homes and businesses. Sooke Mayor and Council has rejected the application after receiving petitions and appeals from residents, saying that the current cell reception is good and asking for any new transmitters to be co-located on existing towers that are distant from homes.  But if the landowner wants to lease, putting his neighbours’ health at risk in exchange for money, this cannot be stopped.  Any such landowner needs to know that he and he alone will be held liable when people sue after they  become ill.  No insurer will cover him and the cell company is indemnified by the govt. The landowner could lose everything in exchange for short term gain.  The Ind. Can. (Innovation, Science and Economy) has a policy that overrules all local concerns. This must be changed and can happen if enough of us demand input through our MPs, city councils, etc. as more people learn about the health and safety risks, things will change.  Congratulations to the people in Sooke who educated their council and to the Council for taking this step. Now Sooke Council needs to ensure it has an antenna siting consultation policy to  ensure as much involvement as possible in any future application.

Wooster was one of more than 40 cities and villages that joined together in a suit in Summit County opposing Senate Bill 331. Among other things, the part of SB 331 that riled cities so much was language that minimized their abilities to regulate small cellphone towers.

In Wooster, public officials have denounced the telecommunications portion of the law as just the latest piece in the list of recent laws eroding home-rule authority for cities.”

Pennsylvania Smart Meter Awareness * PASMA

Contact: Tom McCarey                                                   Telephone:  610-687-7607

PASMA has been hearing almost constantly from customers who refuse AMI Smart Meters on to their electric service about harassment techniques from several electric utility companies across Pennsylvania. The tactics employed are not in keeping with either U.S. or Pennsylvania Constitutional guarantees to life, liberty and the pursuit of safety insofar as citizens must be provided with choice in the matter of how modern electric service impacts their health.

The mandated retrofitting of AMI Smart Meters, which pump out 2.4 plus gigahertz (A Gigahertz [GHz] is a frequency equal to one billion hertz or cycles per second) onto in-wall, 60-Hz-rated-electric wires (fire hazard?), has caused much suffering for those who either are electromagnetically hypersensitive (EHS) or exhibit idiopathic environmental intolerance (IEI)—the medical diagnosis; suffer with chronic diseases, e.g., cancer, MS, Alzheimer’s, etc.; children on the Autism Spectrum; those who suffer with multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), plus an entire host of illnesses affected by non-thermal radiation microwaves from AMI Smart Meters.

A classic case regarding EHS was that of the late Susan Kreider, RN, who suffered terribly as a result of previously having been damaged during nursing school from vaccinations she received in order to complete her studies.  Nurse Kreider filed a formal case and lawsuit with the U.S. Vaccine Court and after sixteen years was paid a monetary settlement.  As an apparent result of Nurse Kreider’s impaired immune system, she was left with certain health issues that were exacerbated by EMFs/RFs emitted by the AMI Smart Meter PECO retrofitted on to her home’s service.

Nurse Kreider passed into spirit life November 10, 2016 after a long, frustrating legal battle to keep the analog meter she was forced to put on to her home service in order to be able to live in her house!

Susan represented herself pro se before the PA Public Utility Commission’s Administrative Law Court.

However, some very damning information has surfaced in the form of Majority Chairman, House Consumer Affairs Commission Robert W. Godshall’s letter dated October 7, 2015 addressed to Gladys M. Brown, Chairman, PA Public Utility Commission (a copy PASMA has obtained).   In the two-page, four paragraph letter, Rep. Godshall seems to be sticking his nose where it does not belong and he should have known better than to write such a letter.  That interference by Godshall was address in Secretary of the PA PUC Commission Rosemary Chiavetta’s letter to Godshall dated October 7, 2015 wherein Chiavetta said:

“Since this matter is still pending a final decision by the Commission, and Chairman Brown and the Commissioners will be voting on the final adjudication of these matters, they are prohibited from responding to your letter due to the statutory prohibition on ex-parte communications at 66Pa.C.S. Section 334(c).  Please be advised that your comments will be served to all parties in this proceeding, and will be made public in the Commission’s record at the above docket numbers.”

Chairman Godshall is infamous for his callous remarks to constituents and others that he would never report out of committee numerous AMI Smart Meter Opt-Out Bills introduced over the last 6 years by PA legislators to correct the inhumane interpretation by the PA PUC of Act 129, which mandates people must gamble with their health and possibly become sick in order to have electric service in Pennsylvania.

However, if customers refuse an AMI Smart Meter, they receive cut-off threats and repeated harassment that their service will be disconnected, even though all their bills are paid in full. That should be illegal and prosecutable at law for harassment and threats, because Pennsylvanians understand that Act 129 (2008) was written, voted upon and signed into law as an OPT-IN Bill with no Opt-Out clauses necessary!  See HB2200/Act 129 (2008) §2807(f)7(2)(i) “Upon request from a customer that agrees to pay the cost of the smart meter at the time of the request.”

Furthermore, presenting a pro se case before the PA PUC Administrative Law Court seems to be nothing short of a sham exercise since the final decision is made by the Commission members, and not the Court, according to Secretary Chiavetta’s letter to Godshall dated October 7, 2015.

It’s time PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro and the PA state Legislature get involved in investigating the problems the PA PUC, Chairman Godshall and utility companies have created for thousands of Pennsylvanians who want nothing more than to live peacefully without being subjected to non-thermal radiation EMF/RF waves, which are documented scientifically to damage human health in various and sundry ways.

Send formal complaints NOW to the PA PUC; the PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro; and the Pennsylvania Office Of Consumer Advocate, 55 Walnut St., 5th Floor Forum Place, Harrisburg, PA 17101-1923—Phone number 800-684-6560; FAX 717-783-7152; email consumer@paoca.org.

Update 2017-07-16 A major cancer cluster in children — rare brain tumours posted July 18/17

1)    A grade 11 class in the US did a really interesting project showing the EMF fields from an RFID chip that is found in so many items.

Science Fair Project:

Smart Card? A Study of ElectroMagnetic Fields Produced by RFID Transmitters

“Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a ubiquitous form of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that has been adapted by numerous industries to identify items, goods, and people. RFID systems operate through a transmitter, which constantly releases pulses of ElectroMagnetic energy. When a card is placed within range of the transmitter, the energy found in the ElectroMagnetic Field (EMF) powers the card, enabling the card to execute the requested command and send the result back to the transmitter.”

Here is the article to which they referred and the emissions chart.

2)    Another cancer cluster. This one brain cancers in children.  This is a type of glioma tumor.  Many scientists believe that the vast majority of cancers are caused by our environment and environmental toxins, and are not caused by genetic defect. But making the link to identify the environmental cause is very difficult and it takes a long time, as it did with tobacco.  If you see something about a cancer cluster, please let me know. dsnoble@shaw.ca

Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG) are highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumors found at the base of the brain. They are glial tumors, meaning they arise from the brain’s glial tissue—tissue made up of cells that help support and protect the brain’s neurons. These tumors are found in an area of the brainstem (the lowest, stem-like part of the brain) called the pons, which controls many of the body’s most vital functions such as breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate.”  http://www.danafarberbostonchildrens.org/conditions/brain-tumor/diffuse-pontine-glioma.aspx

3)    A new group is joining us in our crusade against smeters. It is based in Oregon.

4)    Our of our members found that there will be a documentary about wifi and wifi refugees on the Russian station RT.com this week. Russia and China early on knew that RF radiation is harmful, having (or so I’ve been told) experimented on live humans (prisoners).  Their allowable levels of RF power density have been mere fractions of those allowed in the West – 10 units where Canada and the US allow 1000.  This could be interesting.

“A Great Breakthrough!  Last night (July 15) RT advertised an up-coming documentary titled Wi-fi Refugees to be aired on July 19.  It is about the growing numbers of people around the globe who are sensitive to and suffering from exposure to emf/rf or more broadly “the electronic smog” and their attempts to escape this disabling technology…and much more.

I think this bears watching since rt.com reaches millions of people around the world, and sources of information on this subject in mainstream media are prohibited.

This documentary will repeat several times over the period of 4 or 5 days (? not sure).

If you go to rt.com, you will see a live broadcast of whatever is scheduled for that time period.  News broadcasts are ½ hour in length beginning on the hour.  The documentaries begin at the half-hour time frame following the news.  You can find a schedule in the lower right hand box, just under the live broadcast screen.

I am so hopeful that large numbers of people around the world will be “awakened” to the subjects that you have so devotedly and steadfastly given of your time, talent, intelligence in this effort of alerting people.  It started with the campaign to stop the placement of smart meters on homes and businesses.  That has led to a wider discussion of and warnings about  wi-fi, cell phones, and cell towers.  And now we are faced with the prospect of G5 cells which will soon be everywhere……no place to hide or escape the damaging pulses invading our lives and bodies.”

Please share this letter with your local politicians and news outlets.  We must keep the pressure on Health Canada about this totally antiquated and inadequate “safety” guideline.  Jerry has sent this widely, to provincial authorities across the country and to multiple federal authorities, to media, etc. Please help continue this effort.

Subject: Safety Code 6 causes illnesses and deaths!

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,

Scientists say the world is experiencing an emerging health crisis of which Western national leaders appear to be: a) unaware; b) unable to comprehend; or, c) lack the integrity and courage to do the only honorable thing, i.e., break from the USA’s military-industrial-complex in order to protect the health, safety and well-being of its own people! The attached letter *is self-explanatory and contains ample references to support the assertion: Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 causes illnesses and deaths! My earlier attempt to apprize your Minister of Health, the Honourable Jane Philpott, of the ongoing corruption within her Radiation Protection Bureau was perfunctorily rebuffed by her office.

Update 2017-07-14 AARP in US working to keep landlines posted July 16/17

1)    Many people have seen huge increases in consumption after the installation of smeters, increases that cannot be explained by any changes such as a new hot tub (which is Hydro’s favorite suggestion).

http://www.dailynews.com/opinion/20170703/have-your-utility-bills-become-a-financial-burden-question-of-the-week  Below, in letters, is a comment that was made to the article, but it doesn’t show. She cc’d it to a US group.

2)    A United Nations working group has developed and submitted recommendations for corporations to response human rights while developing/implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  See “letters” for highlights.  It is arguable that BC Hydro, FortisBC, Telus, and various telecoms are following these principles. Our human right to live, unassaulted, in our homes is being infringed upon.

UN Working Group on business & human rights

•                     Achieving SDGs requires that businesses meet their responsibility to respect human rights

•                     Most powerful contribution companies can make to sustainable development is to embed respect for human rights across their value chains

•                     Access to effective remedy for human rights abuses is critical, including in context of business operations in the name of sustainable development

3)    A patent application from 15 years ago for the wifi mesh for airplanes, so that no one will ever have to be without a wireless connection again, using other planes to relay the signals. Imagine the level of RF inside the faraday cages with people flying in them all day every day. Wonder if some of the bizarre behavior is due to this irradiation….   Notice on line 50, page 10/14 where they admit that fiber optic cable is the best on land, and, although expensive to install, is cheap in the long run.  With the fiber optic cable being installed by Telus throughout BC, why doesn’t Hydro use smeters that connect to the best means of transferring data instead of using the most vulnerable and least dependable?

4)    In Illinois, AT&T is asking for legislation to allow eventual elimination of traditional landlines.  This is all for the benefit of the telecoms, without consideration for their customers.  I hope you will consider writing to John Horgan and your MLA about this before Telus begins its push. We need to keep the copper landlines, which I’ve been told are already being replaced, without people being told by Voice over Internet and wireless. What would people with medical devices do for phone service? Many devices suffer interference from wireless radiation.

AT&T Looks Forward to End of Landlines In Illinois, Opponents Cry Foul

“Julie Vahling, associate state director for AARP and the organization’s lead lobbyist in Springfield on this issue, worries that people who are poorer and on fixed incomes could be forced into a new system that may be more costly and not as reliable.

She says many AARP members are upset that lawmakers voted for this change.

“They don’t understand why their state representatives and state senators would vote to do this,” said Vahling. “They are concerned and scared. They don’t know what they are going to do. One of the biggest things in terms of quality of life as we age – and hopefully age well – is being able to socialize and communicate. Taking away something that someone has known for 85 years of their life because you think it’s better for them, in my opinion that is wrong.”

New meters shouldn’t cause utility bills to spike

Re “Have your utility bills become a financial burden?” (Question of the Week, July 3):

Yes, because when a so-called “smart meter” was installed at my home in September 2012, my usage as calculated by the smart meter immediately doubled and tripled. Consequently, my electric bill doubled and tripled. October 2011 usage: 217 kilowatt hours. Cost: $29.89. October 2012 usage: 922 kwh. Cost: $184.48.

This increase has continued to this date:

There has been no change in the electric-powered appliances in my home. This increase in costs to consumers and income to Southern Californa Edison was not only reflected in my individual bills but by many users in Los Angeles and California. The internet was full of stories such as mine. I have copies of the comments.

It may be that smart meters, using digital technology, capture electricity usage more efficiently than the old meters using analog technology, but they capture usage differently.

When I spoke to a gentleman at the Public Utilities Commission in July 2013, he confirmed that the basic rate structure was based on surveys of residential usage captured on analog meters — not on the increased usage captured by the new and improved smart meters. If the installation of smart meters has resulted in my bills tripling (and it has), then SCE has received a windfall increase in monthly income.

Shouldn’t the rate structure be revisited (by SCE and PUC) and the SCE windfall increase in monthly income be considered in assigning a fair and just basic rate?

— Ruth Watson, West Hills

                               I.            Embedding human rights in partnerships with business to achieve the SDGs Human rights are essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Simply put, a development path in which human rights are not respected and protected cannot be sustainable, and would render the notion of sustainable development meaningless. Rightly, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is explicitly grounded in the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, international human rights and labour rights treaties and other instruments, stating that the aim of the SDGs is to “realize the human rights of all”. The SDGs themselves and their targets also cover a wide range of issues that mirror international human rights and labour standards. Many of the SDGs relate closely to economic, social and cultural rights, including rights focused on health, education, food, shelter, alongside the rights of specific groups such as women, children and indigenous peoples. In addition, SDG 16 on the need for peaceful, just and inclusive societies emphasizes key civil and political rights, including personal security, access to justice, and fundamental freedoms. The 2030 Agenda emphasizes that the business sector is a key partner for the United Nations and governments in achieving the SDGs. Notably goal 17 speaks of revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development, including public-private partnerships. Paragraph 67 of the 2030 Agenda calls on “all businesses to apply their creativity and innovation to solving sustainable development challenges” and commits States to “foster a dynamic and wellfunctioning business sector, while protecting labour rights and environmental and health standards in accordance with international standards and agreements and other ongoing related initiatives, such as the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights…”.

II.            Reinforcing the State duty to protect rights-holders States have a critical role to play in ensuring that SDG implementation efforts are consistent with the human rights framework on which the 2030 Agenda is based. The State duty to protect people from business-related human rights abuse includes the task of ensuring that businesses will contribute to, not undermine, inclusive and sustainable development. The foundation of the State duty to protect as set out in the Guiding Principles requires States to protect against human rights abuse within their territory and/or jurisdiction by third parties, including business enterprises. This requires taking appropriate steps to prevent, investigate, punish and redress such abuse through effective policies, legislation, regulations and adjudication. It also requires States to set out clearly the expectation that all business enterprises domiciled in their territory and/or jurisdiction respect human rights throughout their operations. This implies having in place laws that require and enable business respect for human rights, and providing guidance to business enterprises on how to identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse human rights impacts linked to their operations.

1.       States must ensure that their business partners for sustainable development have made a clear and demonstrable commitment to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and uphold these Principles in efforts to reach the SDGs. While partnerships with the business sector are a key part of the strategy for achieving the SDGs, States are responsible for setting national sustainable development policies and priorities to meet the SDG targets that they have committed to by 2030. As and when governments partner with business to achieve the SDGs, they must ensure that their partners have taken demonstrable steps to embed respect human rights across their operations. When seeking to engage business in pursuit of SDGs, States must at the same time emphasize that human rights – not profits – come first. Related to this, as States are beginning to encourage business to report on their contributions to the SDGs, they should also ensure that reporting frameworks are aligned with the Guiding Principles so that businesses disclose impacts to people across their activities and how negative impacts are being addressed.

2.       For business, the most powerful contribution to sustainable development is to embed respect for human rights across their value chains. And business respect for human rights is not a choice, it is a responsibility. The role of business in implementing the SDGs is different from, and goes beyond, traditional corporate social responsibility. Philanthropy or social enterprise are to be welcomed, but cannot substitute for meeting the responsibility to respect human rights, which all businesses regardless of size, sector or location, are expected to meet. Respecting human rights means avoiding adverse impacts on the human rights of others and addressing the adverse impacts with which the business is involved. Business implementation of the Guiding Principles is not simply about ensuring “do no harm”, or just a starting point towards making a positive contribution to sustainable development. Implementing the Guiding Principles in itself has tremendous potential to contribute towards positive change for the hundreds of millions of the poorest and most marginalized people across the world, for whom the term “sustainable development” would otherwise ring hollow.

Update 2017-07-13 Increase in brain tumours among children posted July 15/17

1)    People continue to receive, and respond to (keeping the pressure on !!) Tim Singer re the CBC Marketplace dangerous statement. In reading Singer’s letter below, he is saying that exposure to RF radiation is safe, that only a small number of studies show harm.  As we all know, that is just not true. Why does Health Canada continue to deliberately mislead the public?  If something is truly safe, would there be high quality studies showing otherwise?  I don’t think so, yet HC refuses to acknowledge even studies that the Cancer Society accepts as high quality, such as the recent National Toxicology Program’s 10 year $25 million study.  The industry influence is overwhelming and it is only through pressure from us, unrelenting pressure such as the response by X, that we will make a difference. When you write, please consider  ccing. Wendy Mesley at marketplace@cbc.ca , your MP, and Minister Philpot directly.

3)    The number of people suffering brain tumors is increasing dramatically around the world, especially in younger ages. Unfortunately, in most places, even in Canada, the statistics are not readily available, even if they are maintained.  This from India.

Brain tumour among children on the rise in India

“It is rising in the paediatric age group of 3-15. This month alone we saw 10 such cases of malignant cancerous tumour,” said Dr P.N. Pandey from the department of neurosurgery in Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital.

“In such cases, the tumour is mostly uncontrolled and starts developing when the baby is in the prenatal stage. Survival, in such cases, is one to two years after the tumour is detected in the child,” he said. The doctor added that the environmental factors to which a mother is exposed, affect the baby in both pre natal and post natal life.

According to a study in 2016, every year 40,000-50,000 persons are diagnosed with brain tumour in India, out of which 20 per cent are children. The study showed a drastic increase in the cases of brain tumour in children post 2015. Doctors said that this could be attributed to long-term mobile use.”

Subject: Re: CBC’s Markeplace episode on cellular phones

Dear Mr. Singer,

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.  So, of course, the  majority of studies report no “biological effects for RF fields at  levels below the limits in Safety Code 6.”  Having watched  industries of all types gain approval for their products when they are  later found to be harmful, industries all too often submit  industry-sponsored or industry-linked studies/information for their  approvals. Tobacco science should not be running Health Canada.  Health Canada should be able to guard against this.

Since the HESA Committee reported:

“The [HESA] Committee agrees that the potential risks of exposure to  RF fields are a serious public health issue that needs to be brought  to the attention of Canadians so that they have the knowledge to use wireless devices responsibly and are able to make decisions about the  use of wireless devices in a manner that protects their health and the  health of their families,”

I find it unacceptable that Health Canada continues to support the  wishes of the wireless industry instead of the health of Canadians.

If you know a small child who you care about, I hope you wouldn’t  expose the child to Safety Code 6’s limits 24/7/365!

Since other “industrialized countries have more restrictive limits for  RF field exposures from cell towers, perhaps HC should explore the  reasons for this.  Health Canada seems too interested in harmonizing standards with the United States (and satisfying the industry) instead  of protecting the health of Canadians.

Finally, I understand that Lloyds of London is not interested in  insuring against any damages related to RF.

I do not find that your ‘comments are helpful’.  The dangers still  exist, and your comments will be helpful when you can tell Canadians  that HC has begun to address important health issues related to this  technology.

week). This means that if someone, including a small child, were to be  exposed to RF energy from multiple sources for 24 hours a day, 365  days a year, within the Safety Code 6 limits, there would be no  adverse health effects.”

Health Canada’s intention was not to make a statement respecting  exposure to a specific device. The original purpose of this statement  was to clarify that Safety Code 6 provides protection for all age groups.

As stated in my earlier email to you dated January 7, 2017, Health  Canada updated Safety Code 6 in 2015.  During the update, Health  Canada considered all studies that were both in the scope and of  sufficient quality for inclusion in its risk assessment. While it is  true that some studies report biological effects for RF fields at  levels below the limits in Safety Code 6, I want to emphasize that  these studies are in the minority and do not represent the prevailing line of scientific evidence. Based on the latest scientific evidence, Health Canada has determined  that exposure to RF energy below the levels in Safety Code 6 is not  dangerous to the public.

As also mentioned in previous correspondence to you, Health Canada is aware that internationally, a few jurisdictions have applied more  restrictive limits for RF field exposures from cell towers.  However,  scientific evidence does not support the need for limits that are more  restrictive than Safety Code 6.

Thank you again for taking the time to write about this important  issue. I hope my comments are helpful.

Update 2017-07-11 Theory that the 5G system Telus is installing will use smeters to invade our privacy even more. posted July 13/17

1)    Theories about the push to 5G and these microcells abound. Why is Telus so eager to get their little black boxes on our homes, even if we are not their customers?

New 5G Cell Towers and Smart Meters to Increase Microwave Radiation – Invade Privacy

“Why do Telecom Companies Want a 5G Network? The Merging of Telecommunications with Electric Utilities

Telecom giants plan to take their 5G technology nationwide. It is part of a long-term plan to integrate telecom activities with electrical service providers. A 2015 white paper written by telecom companies, electric utilities, and technology developers published in the European Union describes their vision for the future…

The 5G system will monitor not just consumption of power, but will monitor and control the redistribution of electrical power across the entire electrical grid.

The 5G network will be the nerves and sense organs of a massive organism that has a central brain somewhere, which controls all forms of information exchange and electric utilization/production…

The smart meters that electric utilities are now installing throughout the U.S. are the nerve endings for what will become a highly complex centrally controlled information and energy exchange system.

The 5G network will use the smart meter system (being implemented throughout the U.S.) and the new generation of smart appliances to reach into our homes and make decisions for us.”

Update 2017-07-10 Telus said to have plans to eliminate landlines. posted July 12/17

1)   In the US, preparations for microcells which are intended to hold 5G transmitters are being made, with admissions by one major carrier, AT&T, that they intend to install transmitters anywhere and everywhere. It  is necessary for bills to be passed in US state legislatures to allow this transgression of public rights. In BC it appears there is no need for permission to be granted or these actions to be acknowledged.  Basically it’s just shut up and be irradiated while inside your home.

AT&T said:

Our 5G Evolution plans will pave the way to the next-generation of higher speeds for customers. We’re not waiting until the final standards are set to lay the foundation for our evolution to 5G. We’re executing now,” said John Donovan, chief strategy officer and group president, Technology and Operations.”

“Proposed legislation in California would permit telecom companies to erect 50,000 new microwave antennas in residential and commercial areas without municipal approval.

The 5G microwave antennas would be placed on top of existing utility poles or on public infrastructure such as schools, libraries, bus shelters, and in public parks. The placement of this equipment will be at the discretion of the telecom companies. [9, 10, 11]”

2)   From a member regarding Telus and landlines. Perhaps it’s happening already and we don’t know it.  This would be horrible for those who are sensitive, for those who do not have or want cell phones, and those who do not have computers for Voice over Internet – not to mention those with emergencies. Try calling 911 without a landline or with a cell phone when the power is out or the phone isn’t charged.

My neighbour just told me he was chatting to an installer who told him Telus plans to take down the landlines because the copper in the lines is so valuable now. He referred to it as “Telus mining”.   He didn’t give a time frame for this, but my neighbour said it sounded imminent.”

Ms. Philpott

I’ve read your comments that we should. as Canadians, put our trust in Safety Code 6 and I’m totally disgusted with what you say. You have accepted the word of prejudiced, non independent, industry controlled scientists when you say that this code recognizes safe levels of radiation for Canadians. You continue to ignore radiation safety standards in the rest of the world, even India, which allows far less exposure than ours. This is criminal negligence on your part and your name shall be remembered as one of the perpetrators. You must call for an independent study of Safety Code 6 in order to retain any vestige of credibility.

The only thing green about smart meters is the money going into the corporate pockets.

update 2017-07-09 Compare German cell phone warnings with Health Canada’s and Perry Kendall’s posted July 10/17

1)    A member has translated the warnings re. cell phones that are provided by the German Radiation Protection  Agency.  I highly recommend you look at what Health Canada and Perry Kendall say on their websites, both of which attempt to minimize the risk and the scientific evidence that has existed for decades and is growing. If there is a law that can hold these agencies and people guilty of conflicts of interest that lead to physical harm, we should pursue charges.

  • Use a landline, when you have the choice between a heardwired or mobile phone.
  • Keep telephone calls with the mobile phone or Smart phone short, if at all possible.
  • Use a headset when making telephone calls.
  • When reception is poor, do not make pone calls, for example in the car, without an auxiliary antenna.
  • Use mobile or Smart phones, where your head is exposed to the lowest mobile transmission fields.  The lower the so called SAR – value of your mobile, the better.  The SAR – value of your mobile phone  for example, you find under . . . . . . . or, in the manual of the telephone.
  • When you carry your mobile or Smart phone near the body, pay attention to the minimum distance, as indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Write text messages.  Then you do not hold the mobile to your head.
  • Surfing the internet or down loading emails, should be done only when the reception is good.  With WiFi, the transmission strength is usually lower than with mobile phone standards UMTS, GSM or LTE.
  • Download emails only when needed, manually.
  • Avoid downloading emails, while you are on the phone.  If you wish to minimize your personal radiation burden, switch of the other background data traffic.

With these recommendations, the personal radiation burden can be efficiently minimized, without foregoing the benefits of a mobile phone.

Especially important is the minimization of any radiation burden for children, as they are still in the developing stages and because of this, react health wise, more sensitive.  Because of this, the BfS (German Radiation Protection Agency) advises to minimize mobile phone use for children.

Compare with Health Canada’s website which basically says there really isn’t much to worry about.  http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hl-vs/alt_formats/pacrb-dgapcr/pdf/iyh-vsv/prod/cell-eng.pdf   The warnings are limited. (sorry, I cannot cut and paste.)

And Perry Kendall’s website is shamefully lacking accurate warnings or information, and, worse, misleads, e.g. about FM radio

“Given that cell phones, wi-fi and smart meters all transmit information with radiofrequency waves, some members of the public have also argued that these devices, as well as baby monitors, and FM radio, which also use radiofrequency transmission, be curtailed or banned.

Dr. Perry Kendall, British Columbia’s provincial health officer, recognises these concerns. Dr. Kendall and his colleagues across the country regularly review information and new science as it becomes available, and have established ongoing review mechanisms to ensure that new knowledge is assessed quickly.

Given the current scientific evidence, the consensus of public health practitioners is that at current exposure levels these electromagnetic fields do not constitute a threat to the health of the public.”

And has this precautionary statement:

“Q – I am worried about my time spent using a cell phone. What should I do?
A- There are many ways you can limit your exposure to radiofrequency waves if you are concerned. For example, you can:

  • Spend less time on the phone
  • Use the speaker option
  • Use blue tooth technology
  • Use an earpiece
  • Use the texting option”

2)    A new report on EHS patients having abnormal brain scans (MRIs).  People with a history of head injury or exposure to chemicals are more vulnerable to effects from RF/EMF.

“Interestingly, the differential diagnosis for the abnormalities seen on the fMRI includes head injury. It turns out that many of our patients indeed had a history of head injury which was then followed sometime later by the development of EHS. Many of our patients also had a history of exposure to potentially neurotoxic chemicals, especially mold. Head injury and neurotoxic chemical exposure may make a patient more vulnerable to develop EHS.

3)    For anyone concerned about microcells with the potential/probable 5G transmitters in the future, thanks to Environmental Heath Trust, here is a list of US states where there have been actions, many being legislative that give the telecoms full rights to our public lands and the public reactions.. We do need to share this information with councils and encourage them to protect the public rights and health of their constituents.

4)    A recent CBC article about lithium batteries exploding, primarily ion batteries which are being improperly recharged. But given this heat wave, everyone needs to know that heat can cause a lithium metal batter (which is what is in the smeter) to overheat and explode. If you notice anything odd about your electricity, e.g. flickering lights) or if your meter feels warm to the touch, call Hydro/Fortis ASAP.  People have experienced unusual electrical thing happening prior to a fire. Remember, these things are fire hazards, with many design flaws, one being that it is combustible.

Misusing your phone charger could spark a fire, warn officials

Dear Mr.

Since other “industrialized countries have more restrictive limits for RF field exposures from cell towers,” perhaps HC should explore the reasons for this.  Health Canada seems too interested in harmonizing standards with the United States (and satisfying the industry) instead of protecting the health of Canadians.

Finally, I understand that Lloyds of London is not interested in insuring against any damages related to RF.

I do not find that your “comments are helpful”.  The dangers still exist, and your comments will be helpful when you can tell Canadians that HC has begun to address important health issues related to this technology.

Update 2017-07-08 Health Canada continues to support erroneous statement on Marketplace. posted July 10/17

1)     People are still getting responses to their emails re the CBC program re. cellphones. One, and a response back, is below in letters. Tim Singer is trying to personalize letters to some extent, but he continues to miss the point. A question I asked in response to the same letter that I got a month or longer ago remains to be answered. If something is truly safe, how many good, solid studies will show that it isn’t safe? I suggest the number is zero. Yet Health Canada uses its “risk assessment” or “weight of evidence” to cherry pick the studies it wishes to consider and to disregard the rest. They got away with this for a long time but now we’re on to them.  HC is not going to be able to continue to get away with this. Why is Health Min. Philpott, who is a doctor, not becoming educated on this very important health topic?  Let’s keep pressure on her. She cannot be allowed to believe that she is following the Hippocratic code or doing her job which is to protect us.

2)    More input about the dangers of and the reasons the industry is pushing microcells and, ultimately, 5G.  we have to fight the microcells which follow the beneficial fiber optic cable that Telus is “offering”. The offering is a sleight of hand. Telus offers this safe, efficient fiber optic cable, bringing it to your home, but then following up, usually within days, with microcells that will irradiate you and your family without telling you or giving you a choice. And as for the fiber optic cable – it brings the signal to the wifi devices they install in your home. A double sleight of hand.

Is California Setting Up Precedent For The 5G Wireless Takeover?  —   The answer is no, not if all of the people fighting this in California are heard. But the industry has deep pockets and uses them to buy their way into the governments at all levels.

I appreciate your sincere effort to respond but your information is outdated and false.  Safety Code 6 is very outdated and exposes children and, indeed, all Canadians, to health hazards.  I wish your department would put some effort into analyzing and reading the independent research rather than the corporate lobbyist profit motivated propaganda.  Otherwise you are representing corporations at tax payer expense.  The fact that you do not know Safety Code 6 is egregiously outdated, even compared to countries such as India, is terrifying and does not speak well for either your dept. or Min. When will you make an effort to update Safety Code 6?  I know you have gone through some pro forma exercise recently but the input was biased and perverted by industry lobby groups.

Update 2017-07-07 Loss of landlines of major importance in Calif. Could it happen here? posted July 9/17

1)    In the US, especially in Calif., AT&T is eliminating landlines, forcing everyone to use a cell phone. We all know this is unacceptable for many reasons, among which is the inability for many to use cell phones, e.g those who cannot afford a cell phone, many elderly, those who need dependable emergency service.  In addition, those who are deaf will have major difficulties. The reason this is important is that what happens in Calif. eventually will happen here. This from someone in Calif. who is resisting this conversion from landline to cell phones.  Please share with groups representing the disabled, and ask them to begin to organize to preserve landlines.

“I just spoke with a technician who was sent out to service a phone for hard-of-hearing person, provided by the Deaf and Disabled Telephone Program.  He told me that landlines are going to be discontinued in 2020 and that the California Deaf and Disabled Telephone Program representatives are very concerned about the change.

He said that the DDTP program has been trying to convince the legislature to “grandfather” in the landlines that service the deaf and disabled so that the phones will continue to work by “changing the language” in the bill.  He said that he knows of no equipment changes that may be in the works to function with VoIP phones.

The program is funded by small deductions from telephone bills.

According to the technician, people who will be affected if the phone equipment is not compatible with VoIP are quadriplegics, cognitively impaired, and others.  I asked him if any “disability” groups were actively involved with advocacy on this matter, via the DDTP, and he said that there is a committee of some sort comprised of various disability groups.

I read a bit about the history of the DDTP and it seems that if the CPUC does not step up to the plate to defend landlines, they are in violation of the MANDATES (!!) to provide this service.

Read about the mandates here:

Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program (DDTP). “

2)    A family became refugees, ending up in a tiny town in Alaska, for the health of their daughter who is sensitive. A story that will be repeated more often as the microcells increase the electrosmog.

“Yost and his family recently moved to Egegik from the Upper Peninsula in Michigan–part of a search to find an environment agreeable with the oldest daughter of the family’s health. Eighteen year old Sarah Yost suffers from a rare condition called Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity, which gives her symptoms similar to Fibromyalgia brought on by wireless radiation. She feels ill in areas concentrated with wireless internet, cell phones and cell phone towers. The Yost family traveled the country for the better part of the last two years, searching for a place far enough removed from modern technologies, where Sara could feel healthy.”

Local government officials are crying foul, calling it an audacious power grab and the equivalent of a gift of public funds to billion-dollar telecommunications companies that don’t need the help.”

4)    Comments from a member about going off grid and the problems with inverters.

Just want to share that having lived off the grid for 5 years, solar power is not a good solution in terms of EMF protection if you have an inverter (which most people  have, in order to convert solar power from 12/24v to 110-125v to be used by common household appliances).

The inverter is a huge source of high magnetic field and it can also cause dirty electricity in the wiring (maybe even more so than smart meter). This was my experience and this is also mentioned repeatedly in Jeromy Johnson’s book:  https://www.emfanalysis.com/healthy-home/

I just moved and am now in a home with the smart meter installed about 25m from the house. Since we don’t use any wireless device, our RF level is low to undetectable level on the Acoustimeter and the DE (EMI) level is also very low.

I’m not saying Smart meter is a good thing (still think it’s a dumb waster of money and it’s intrusive), but for the EHS population, going off-grid may not be a be all, end-all solution. People need to be aware of that.

5)    We all know that the major justification the Governments and the utilities give for the smeters is that they will save energy. This does not happen, as we know. But we are being pushed to conserve energy and why? It seems it’s so the data centres that are gathering, storing, using our personal data can have energy.  Could this need for energy for the data centres be why the liberals pushed so hard for Site C?

Subject: BC ferries – not WiFi free for long

I like to mention that the statement below from Josee Magas of BC Ferries in almost misleading.

Yes, they do not have WiFi on a couple of the older vessels at the moment, but we were present on the Queen of Alberni when a passenger asked the Second Steward about WiFi. His answer was: ” . . . they are working on it!”

The Steward’s statement makes is obvious, thatBC Ferries is not revealing the truth.

It is an outrage, that in order to avoid WiFi, people from the Southern Island, have to travel 2 hours up the island and2 hours on their return trip.  4 extra hours of travel?

Dear X

Thank you for your email.

I have confirmed that the Wi-Fi free travel option between Vancouver Island and the Mainland can be found on our Duke Point, Nanaimo to Tsawwassen route as the Queen of Alberni and Coastal Inspiration vessels do not offer Wi-Fi onboard.

Thank you for pointing that out.

Update 2017-07-04 Industry admits smeter growth stunted due to “uncertainties” ! posted July 6/17

1)   A prime example of how Health Canada bends to the wishes of industry – even ones with far less money and influence than the telecoms, such as the cosmetic industry.

A ‘flawed understanding’ of regulations

“You can try and frame it any way you want, but to me it looks like the government did bend to pressure from the industry to extend the phase-out,” she said. “Given the European phase-out that happened two years earlier, there’s no way they would have been blindsided…chemical regulations are quite international; when one country does something, other countries look at it closely.”

2)      Cindy Sage is warning that the radiation level from a single microcell even at a distance of 530 feet can be higher than the level recommended by the BioInitiative Report.  The microcells being installed by Telus are designed to hold multiple transmitters using various frequencies, which will increase the RF levels dramatically and also will confound your body’s cells even more.

At What Distance Does a Small Cell Mounted at 26′ height produce greater than the BioInitiative 2007 recommendation of 0.1 microwatt/cm2 (green highlight)?

Or ten times higher at 1.0 microwatt/cm2  (yellow highlight)?

This summary has been compiled by Cindy Sage, Sage Associates (July 2017) from a report by Jerrold Bushberg that was prepared for NextG small cell rollout in Santa Barbara County in 2009.

Bushberg provides an approximation of radiofrequency radiation emissions of one type of small cell wireless installation mounted on power poles in residential neighborhoods.  Note that Bushberg presents his running tables of RF power density vs distance in milliwatts/cm2, so you will need to multiply his predicted RF levels by 1000 times to see microwatts/cm2 for comparison to scientific studies reporting health impacts from chronic, low-intensity RF exposures.

Bushberg’s calculations of RF are based on what a 6′ tall person at ground level would be exposed to from a wireless small cell antenna mounted at 26′ height like on a power pole.  He did not calculate RF levels for second-story occupants, nor from multiple wireless antennas on a pole.  There would be far higher RF at a second-story home or multiple antennas on one pole.  Or, if the small cell has an effective radiated power (ERP) of greater than 48.6 watts with greater down tilt.

Think about the power pole outside your home.  How far is it from your bedroom window?  Your child’s bedroom window? Do you have a one-story or two story home?  What if the power pole is located downslope as might be the case if your home sits on a hilly street?  When you directly face the antenna rather than having it high above you, your RF exposure levels will be higher.   Green highlighted parts adapted from tables by Bushberg (2009) exceed the 2007 BioInitiative recommendation of 0.1 uW/cm2 (green doesn’t mean safe, it is a color choice that allows you to see the underlying numbers).  The yellow highlight is ten times higher – but useful to address the questionable assertion that indoor RF levels will be ten times lower than Bushberg’s tables indicate.  Even so, look at how many distances away from the power pole are yellow highlighted – indicating that at these distances a small cell is calculated to produce RF levels indoors that could exceed the 2007 BioInitiative recommended threshold of 0.1 uW/cm2.

3)   I sent this youtube the other day as one of several with testimony given in opposition to the microcell bill in California. The version I sent the other day did not have this child speaking about the effect of wifi on his heart. This is similar to what many children experience in schools, such as the one in Simcoe, Ontario, where young children suffered serious heart problems until the wifi was removed.

4)   Wireless devices, such as smeters, cell/smart phones, security monitor, can interfere with implanted medical devices like pacemakers and deep brain implants when frequencies are too close. When this happens, a severe health incident could occur. Imagine having to live in a home with a smeter that has the capability of turning your device off.   I’ve often wondered if wireless devices like wifi modems or cordless phones could interfere with smeters, causing them to run fast resulting in higher bills.  This seems logical to me – but how to prove it?  Any wireless device is vulnerable to interference….

Why People with Brain Implants Are Afraid To Go Through Automatic Doors.

“In 2009, Gary Olhoeft walked into a Best Buy to buy some DVDs. He walked out with his whole body twitching and convulsing. Olhoeft has a brain implant, tiny bits of microelectronic circuitry that deliver electrical impulses to his motor cortex in order to control the debilitating tremors he suffers as a symptom of Parkinson’s disease. It had been working fine. So, what happened when he passed through those double wide doors into consumer electronics paradise? He thinks the theft-prevention system interfered with his implant and turned it off.”

5)   Smeter company seeking funds to fuel growth after smeter market has slowed down—due to uncertainties. And they don’t even mention cybersecurity.

Smart meter maker Landis+Gyr plans IPO, sale still an option

“In recent years, smart metering adoption has been stunted by lack of standards, uncertainty over whether new laws will support the technology and consumers wary of actual benefits.”

Update 2017-07-05 Another report confirms smeters do not provide the benefits promised. Posted July 6/17

1)    Thanks to a member, below are corrections from BC Ferry about the ferries that are, so far, wifi-free.   The ferry people don’t even know the routes …

2)    Yet another report that shows that smeters and time of use billing do not save energy. Confirmation from all jurisdictions shows that there is no benefit from this expense, intrusion into our privacy or risks to health and safety.

Are smart meters delivering on their promise?

What did we find? Our analysis showed that on-peak and mid-peak consumption fell by about 2.5 per cent, while off-peak consumption remained about the same. This suggests that electricity demand is not being shifted to off-peak periods, but is being conserved.

We hope our results will help the Ontario government and other jurisdictions to determine whether time-of-use pricing and smart meters are as effective as intended, or whether new initiatives should be considered to reduce or shift residential demand.

3)    Hawaii’s electricity provider looking to change plan to install smeters across the state. Rather it is changing strategy because of concerns about the drive for renewable energy sources working with the old grid

Hawaiian Electric Seeks Approval for Leaner, Meaner $205M Grid Modernization Plan

“One big shift for HECO is to move away from its previous plan to deploy smart meters across its entire service territory, and instead to deploy them “strategically,” and “primarily for enhanced sensing and monitoring purposes.””

Rooftop Solar in Oahu Crashes With Loss of Net Metering, Lack of Self-Supply Installs

“”And for all the focus on self-supply being some kind of evolutionary end state, where residential energy storage changes the face of utilities as we know them, [that] doesn’t take into account an important fact: Self-supply systems are not without impacts on the grid,” Mangelsdorf added. “Even if surplus power does not feed back into the grid, more and more self-supply systems effectively reduce the daytime load firm generation needed for those impacted circuits, and there are limits as to just how low combustion generators can be ramped down.”

“We in the industry in the Aloha State are afraid,” he concluded. (emphasis added)

4)    In Australia, more homes are going off the grid, and many new homes are bypassing the grid in the first place. The major concern seems to be privacy, not wanting personal data to be taken by the utility company and shared for profit or knowledge of personal habits. As more people are off grid, the rates will have to increase to cover fixed costs, and more will leave – the inevitable death spiral facing utilities.

As one home heads off grid… many more are choosing not to connect

““Some call this the democratisation of energy …. but it is essentially about the ability for people to use their own resources, and to get reward for it.”

The problem is, a growing number of Australian households have become tired of waiting for democracy to kick in, and are taking matters into their own hands. At the same time, the cost of doing so is becoming more and more attractive, while the cost of staying on the grid, even with solar and storage, appears to becomes more and more punitive.”

5)    A short time ago, a report was released regarding a test in Europe that found 90% of all cell phones were emitting higher levels of RF than allowed by guidelines.  So far nothing has been done, and a doctor is taking the government to task – demanding that efforts be made to alert the public, at a minimum, on how to use a cell phone more safely. It is time in Canada to push for labels on cell phones, iphones, tablets, etc so that people know they run the chance of irradiating themselves or their children.

[An Interview] Danger of cell phone waves: en route towards a “phonegate”?

« Still, I repeat, the ANFR measurements show that 9 out of 10 phones are problematic.  In addition to changing the standards, there is work to be done on user habits:  avoiding placing the phone in the pocket; using loudspeakers or headsets; avoiding as far as possible putting younger persons in contact with the devices.  That may sound absurd today.  But this was exactly the case 50 years ago with the initial concerns about cigarettes. Smoking was popular, appreciated, and pleasant… but smoking proved to be especially deadly.  I know that this subject is not easy to address, but it is a question of public health, no more, no less.  This is the purpose of our letter. »

In your letter to Ms. Noble you state that the ferries free of WI-FI are those travelling from Duke Point, Nanaimo to Tsawwassen are the Queen of Alberni and the Coastal Celebration.

I believe the Coastal Celebration travels from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen and according to B.C. Ferries schedule it would be the Coastal Inspiration that sails from Duke Point to Tsawwassen.

BC Ferries Assaulting passengers and employees with dangerous EMF frequencies! posted July 4/17

Update 2017-07-02 BC ferries increasing “connectivity”.

1)    BC Ferries is adding “connectivity” for wifi by adding “repeaters” along the various routes. This means on islands that right now offer refuge to people and wildlife will become electro-polluted. It will be impossible for sensitive people to take ferries and workers will be exposed to high levels of RF in the metal faraday cage all day every day they work.  The occupational laws say no worker can be exposed to a 2b carcinogen unless there is no alternative. There is one exception — microwave radiation. And why? Because it is governed by Safety Code 6.   Perry Kendall could change this if he were anxious to be a good public health doctor and public health authority.

“BC Ferries is in the process of installing the latest in ship-to-shore radio technologies onboard all major route vessels and at shore-based locations. These new radios will have much higher connectivity and throughput capabilities than the previous generation radios.

When vessels are too far from the terminal for a reliable Wi-Fi connection, shore-based repeater sites are used to relay the Wi-Fi signal from a closer shore-based location back to the receiving radio at the terminal. A network of these shore-based repeater sites will be installed along the major routes.”

BC Ferries is continuously working to enhance the travel experience for our customers. We strive to deliver a reliable and readily available internet connection for …

2)    A call from Massachusetts for those who are concerned about climate, etc. and support “Green” ideas and products to understand that wireless is not green and that many corporations are misleading them when they “green” programs like smeters and the “smart grid”.  Many in the Green Party believe what Hydro is telling us – that smeters will reduce energy, will help concerns about climate change. Not true – and to the contrary they are contributing to more pollution, and not just electrosmog. They are made of plastics that have to be replaced every few years, the ITRON smeters have lithium batteries that are very difficult to dispose of safely. There is nothing “green” about smeters except the $$$ flowing into the corporate pockets.  It is up to us to educate the Greens about this and get them to work with us on this issue.

“Like mustard gas, airborne electrical poisoning and microwave technology is a product of war, sourced in weaponry and radar, in the domain of Aries.

And those experiencing illness due to microwave frequencies in the airwaves and high frequencies on the power lines are incredulously having to wage battle with those in the trenches of the clean green energy movement fighting fossil fuels.”

4)    Please consider writing email explaining how exposure to wifi has affected you or someone you love. Why should teachers or children who are sensitive before forced to either quit the school or suffer each day?  Wifi isn’t necessary for an education or even for access to the internet. Wired is faster, more efficient, cheaper and it does not emit microwave radiation. Please ask for those who are sensitive to be allowed to attend school, to accommodate them the way they accommodate someone with a peanut allergy.   If we can help LAUSD it will help lead the way in accommodating people who are sensitive in BC and elsewhere.

2)    In the UK, the utilities rates have increased much more than inflation and, as a percentage, far greater than salaries. Most likely the same in true in BC. With unbridled authority to spend on unnecessary programs like smeters and Site C, the government has lined the corporate pockets of their friends with our money. Hopefully the new government will re look at these expensive programs that have no end to the expenses and give no benefits.  The NDP must be made to see that it is better to cancel a program (have smeters recalled as being defective) than to throw good money after bad for years to come.

Forget austerity, here’s who is to blame for your empty pockets

Research this week by Santander blows the whistle on the ever-growing portion of our monthly pay that goes on largely unavoidable household bills. It looked at bills for gas, electricity, water, TV, phone and so on – and found they have escalated in price far, far ahead of average wage rises. Since 2006, average pay packets in Britain have gone up by 19% in pounds and pence terms (in other words, not adjusting for inflation). Meanwhile, the average gas bill has gone up 73%, electricity 72%, and water 41%.

2) This presentation was given in Australia and shows clearly the evidence of harm from microwave exposure from the 1970s to today. It also shows very clearly how funding influences the outcome. Economic concerns are greater to the agencies like ICNIRP, apparently, than are health concerns. Other major agencies, like Health Canada, follow. Something of interest. About 10 years ago Dennis and I were working on the environmental petition for the Federal Auditor General showing that Health Canada’s “researchers” and those in charge have conflicts of interest . One example was a study that James McNamee, division chief for health effects and assessments in Health Canada’s bureau of consumer and clinical radiation protection, sent to me to show that RF is safe. It was a very short term rat study he did that was funded by Motorola. Looking at the industry funding in the US that resulted in “no health effects” in this Australian report, Motorola plays a major role.

More millennials are having strokes. Here’s where

“A growing body of research indicates strokes among U.S. millennials—ages 18 to 34—have soared in recent years.

But an analysis by Scientific American has revealed significant differences in where these strokes are occurring, depending both on region and whether people live in rural or urban settings. The investigation, which used data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), was reviewed by five stroke experts and found that the West and Midwest have seen especially worrisome increases among younger adults. Moreover, large cities appear to have seen bigger increases than rural areas.”

Update 2017-06-28 Cyberattack warnings re. smeters specifically posted June 30/17

1)    Tomorrow (Thursday) a live interview with Alasdair Philips about IoT and EMFs how people are being affected by both. You will need to sign up, at the link below, for this free broadcast.

Thursday, 29th June at 1:00 p.m. EST (10 AM PST or 5 PM GMT) Im conducting a LIVE interview with Alasdair Philips.

“A professional engineer, scientific researcher and a founder of Powerwatch. Alasdair is seen by the UK Government and the electricity and wireless industries as a respected stakeholder and is recognized by the national media.

Alasdair has been a member of a number of UK Government and EC working groups on electromagnetic fields and health and has a wide knowledge of many other environmental health issues especially relating to the causes of childhood cancer. He has chaired and presented at international conferences on these topics. He is a Director of EMFields Solutions Ltd and designs their measuring EMF/RF instruments.

He is also a Trustee of Great Ormond Street Children with Cancer UK, the leading UK charity funding investigations into the causes and treatment for cancer in children and young people.”

2)    More warnings about cyberattacks, this one stating that smeters can be the specific target that could lead to many months, or longer, of chaos.  No level of government or utility seems to be taking this threat seriously. I would ask for each of you to consider sending info about hacking, cybersecurity, etc. to Horgan, Weaver, Clark, the Privacy Commissioner, MLAs, plus other officials at the federal and provincial level. If I can get access to the full article “Security Analysis of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure” I will share.

“new article has been published entitled, “Security Analysis of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure.”  According to the article [1]:

“Sophisticated cyber attacks on advanced metering infrastructures are a clear and present danger.  The most devastating scenario involves a computer worm that traverses advanced metering infrastructures and permanently disables or ‘bricks’ [2] millions of smart meters in major metropolitan areas.””

3)    FCC has approved the first application for  low level satellites to provide broadband service to everyplace, without exception. There will be no refuge.

Calling it the first-of-its-kind, new generation of large, non-geostationary-satellite orbit, fixed-satellite service (NGSO FSS) systems, FCC said in its declaratory ruling that OneWeb’s network of satellites will “provide high-speed, affordable broadband connectivity to anyone, anywhere” in the United States…

OneWeb is competing with SpaceX, which is planning to launch a 4,425-strong ‘constellation’ of its own, as well as several other companies planning satellite-based, gigabit-speed broadband and communication services globally. OneWeb was the first to apply to the FCC for its satellite network’s approval on April 28, 2016. Noting that other companies filed their own requests shortly thereafter, Pai said the granting of OneWeb’s petition is the first of many.”

4)    Some excellent testimonies before the Committee in Massachusetts considering a bill re smeters.  Dr. Martin Pall is at 2:46:48, but there are others well worth listening to.

3)    In other countries, such as India, it is not unusual to see articles about the dangers of RF exposure. I can’t recall the last time a newspaper in Canada or the US published an article like this one.

How Mobile Phones (Mis)Use Is Affecting Our Health & Social Fabric

The cell phones were distinguished from dangerous microwave ovens based on the amount of power used to push the microwaves and it was argued that the cell phones will not impact the health of consumers, other than the heating of tissues. The theory worked due to the pressure from different profit based industries and cell phones were exempted from any type of regulatory oversight, an exemption that continues today.”

4)    Apparently “smart” appliances have a “MAC” address somewhere on them usually on the back.. This address is used to initiate connection with the smeter to gather data. Even if the appliance doesn’t say it’s “smart” it would be a good idea to check for this before buying.

Subject: Wi Fi on ferries

Dear Ms Hawe;

I am in complete agreement with the writer of the enclosed letter to you!

I happen to be one of the unfortunate people who became electro hyper sensitive. This condition tends to get progressively worse with more and more exposure.

Fortunately I am not obliged to travel on the Ferries. The presence of radiation would make it difficult, so I will avoid it.

As Ms. Gregson of the letter below says, Safety code 6 was not intended to protect against non-thermal radiation. It was meant for industry workers, and the standard was arrived at by heating water in a plastic head by one degree.

Unfortunately many of us don’t have plastic heads filled with water, although sometimes you wouldn’t know it!

Dear Ms Hawe,

Thank you for your response.  I will be sure to avoid the Tsawwassen to Victoria ferry. I’m a bit shocked and dismayed that you put your faith in the out-dated and inadequate “Safety Code 6”. It is based on heat. This is an obsolete standard and not considering current science which shows cellular and organism harm from non-thermal effects. I feel fairly certain that you cannot be unaware of the many scientific studies and reports that reveal the inadequacy of this “Safety Code”.  While the presence of continual wi-fi may not cause perceptible physical reactions to most of your passengers, it is causing biological changes in all of them, and more important, to the crew–who are being exposed continuously for longer periods. EHS can develop suddenly and unexpectedly, causing horrendous handicaps in our EMF-engulfed environment. Accumulation of EMF heightens the risk of developing EHS. EMF is no longer just a possible carcinogen; it is a probable one. Our son developed cancer at age 32. I urge you to do research on this topic and use the Precautionary Principle. Surely you must not wait for lawsuits? The tobacco industry scorned the safety of the public. It seems the telecom industry has the same blindness, putting profits before health.

I’m greatly disappointed in your apparently uninformed response. I can only hope that someone in your field begins to get uneasy enough to do his or her own research, instead of relying on Health Canada, the minister of which is just another puppet.
